A sign of the growing influence of artificial intelligence in the business world, a bornA report from HubSpot reveals that AI is rapidly reshaping the way startups approach their go-to-market strategies and is fueling early-stage business growth.
The report, based on a survey of more than 1,000 startup founders worldwide, reveals that 86% of respondents said AI had a positive impact on their commercialization plans. Nearly 60% said AI tools helped them reach more qualified prospects.

Startups are adopting AI across their business

More than 70% of founders surveyed said they already have a designated team focused on acquiring or using AI in their go-to-market approach. And two-thirds said they plan to hire employees with AI expertise in the next year.
This highlights the growing recognition among startup executives that AI is not just an exciting technology, but a critical competitive advantage in today’s data-driven business landscape. AI becomes the “new co-founder”
The HubSpot report highlights how AI is not just changing specific business tactics, but is redefining the very nature of entrepreneurship in the digital age.
“There is a fundamental overhaul of the process – of how we approach entrepreneurship, from the ground up,” said Ethan Mollick, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania who studies AI and innovation. He predicts that AI will become like a “new co-founder” for many startups.
The report finds that AI adoption is particularly high among fast-growing startups in areas such as technology, professional services and manufacturing. For many, machine learning (ML) is used to predict customer behavior, personalize marketing, dynamically adjust prices, and automate customer service.
Marketing teams lead the way, with 62% using AI tools, compared to 54% of sales teams, according to the report. The founders saw marketing as the area where AI has had the biggest impact on their marketing success so far.
Challenges remain but optimism is high
Despite the benefits, the founders also expressed concerns about the costs and challenges of adopting AI, including integrating it with existing systems, hiring AI talent, and addressing data privacy concerns. and ethics.
“As we work on these powerful generative AI tools that interact with the world, (we want) to make sure that humans are always at the center of that story,” said Daniela Amodei, founder of Anthropic, a research lab. ‘AI working with tech giants like Google. “We hope people will use (AI) as a partner and collaborator that helps humans do the things they want to do.”
Optimism remains high, however, with 78% of founders believing that AI will help increase their company’s growth in the coming year.
