The rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence, particularly generative AI, continues to disrupt organizations across all industries. “AI everywhere” is the buzzword dominating the enterprise.
The transformative impact that AI brings to the foundational layers of technology infrastructure, software, and applications is enormous, and the role of data and innovation in shaping the future of generative AI is essential.
“This AI thing is real. It’s AI everywhere…powering all trends, all markets…all the way down the stack,” said Dave Vellante (pictured, right), co-founder and chief analyst of theCUBE Research.
The transformative power of AI across the technology spectrum is a wave of growth never seen before. Today’s AI innovations are closely linked to data quality and compliance issues, which were less pronounced in previous technological revolutions.
Vellante and his co-analyst John Furrier (left), executive analyst at theCUBE Research, launched the “Supercloud 6: AI Innovators” Event, in an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s live streaming studio. They discussed the transformative impact of AI on various industries and provided insight into the diverse group of pioneers, startups and thought leaders they will speak with throughout the day about navigating the complexities and potential of generative AI and machine learning.
AI Everywhere: The Impact of AI on Business Strategies and Operations
Integrating AI into business operations presents significant challenges and opportunities. Businesses must adapt quickly to effectively leverage AI.
“The game is still the same, but it’s being played under new conditions, new infrastructure, new software abstractions, new types of chips and server and component configurations, as we saw with Broadcom and Nvidia ” Furrier said. “But the developer’s action is extremely robust. You have massive open source development.
This reflects the changing landscape in which traditional business models are being disrupted by AI, requiring a reassessment of strategies around infrastructure, data management and application development. Generative AI is not just about the technology itself, but also how it is adopted and implemented across industries.
“You really can’t have good AI without good data,” Vellante said. “There’s not only a transformation from AI, but there’s a data transformation happening where everyone is sort of trying to put data at the core of their business because it enables Quality AI.”
Innovation, data integration and the rise of supercloud in the evolution of AI
Startups and established companies face the complexities of integrating AI into their systems. According to Furrier and Vellante, it is essential to find a balance between innovation and the responsible management of sensitive data. The role of developers and the impact of open source development on AI innovation are critical factors contributing to the widespread adoption and evolution of AI technologies.
“What generative AI…means is that startups and innovators have to deal with two things: a moving train in terms of growth trend – generative AI, new technology, new infrastructure – and then managing sensitive company data,” Fourreur said.
Integrating AI into business is not just about launching an experimental project or forming a development team. This requires a focus on both pioneering innovation in development and infrastructure, while integrating from the start the company’s most valuable asset: its data, Furrier explained.
This approach is unique and presents a formidable challenge for startups. They must navigate the complexity of what is essentially an enterprise-level pitch simply to access the necessary data, because without it, they cannot demonstrate the real value of their AI initiatives, Furrier added . Simply establishing technical capabilities is not enough; securing access to data is crucial.
“This is going to be a challenge and an opportunity for anyone who can crack the code,” he said.
