DALLAS — February 12, 2024 — Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: FR0014003TT8, DSY.PA) today revealed trends that highlight opportunities for startups and small and medium-sized businesses to outpace large enterprises linked by corporate processes and structures more established.
The untapped capabilities of artificial intelligence, IT and cybersecurity skills, and the simplicity of digital platforms are some of the topics emerging from a survey of 1,000 technology employees in the United States, in the UK, France, Germany and Italy on AI trends, skills gaps and digital transformation. The trend survey was conducted by independent market research firm CITE Research.
Respondents were asked about their perceptions of AI tools in the workplace, their concerns about cybersecurity issues and the consequences of low IT and cybersecurity skills, their levels of digital transformation, and more. Key findings include:
- AI will radically transform industry and society, but missed opportunities and early misunderstandings about its full benefits will give startups and small and medium-sized businesses a head start, with key computing capabilities;
- 84% of companies enable the use of AI and 68% have used chatbots, but other more effective capabilities, such as machine-aided design, integrations and machine learning, are poised to catapult user efficiency;
- 64% of respondents agree that it is increasingly difficult to find employees with the skills needed to compete. 73% are concerned about cybersecurity issues, but only 40% have employees with the cybersecurity skills to address them;
- The consequences of the cybersecurity skills gap include higher product and service costs, security issues, slower time to market, and lower revenue, revealing areas for improvement for small businesses through appropriate skills;
- 87% of organizations have the opportunity to develop their digital transformation. More than a third of large companies view implementation costs and management skills for digital transformation as barriers to adoption, revealing an opportunity for small businesses to seize key opportunities offered by digital platforms .
“We wanted to explore hot topics that impact our SOLIDWORKS and 3DEXPERIENCE Works community. The trends that emerged from this survey highlight the unique advantages small businesses enjoy by becoming more agile, innovative, autonomous and collaborative,” said Gian Paolo Bassi, senior vice president, 3DEXPERIENCE Works, Dassault Systèmes. “Our SOLIDWORKS applications, part of the 3DEXPERIENCE Works portfolio on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, enable this community to harness the power of virtual twins to achieve this and succeed in every aspect of their business.
The survey results are reflected in four days of discussions, networking and workshops at 3DEXPERIENCE worldDassault Systèmes’ annual event dedicated to the 3DEXPERIENCE Works and SOLIDWORKS community, in Dallas from February 11 to 14.
