Tech Data has released its APJ 2024 Technology Ecosystem Leadership Report, highlighting key trends across the APJ technology landscape.
The report provides an overview of dynamic changes and emerging trends in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region, with a particular focus on areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and the transition to business models service-focused.
AI adoption is a significant driver of growth in the region, with 84% of partners recognizing proof-of-concept requests for generative AI (GenAI). Additionally, 36% of these partners plan to offer AI solutions in the next two years, with a focus on GenAI solutions (52%), AI services (48%), and compatible devices with AI (35%).
As AI continues to shape the technology landscape, cybersecurity remains a top priority. The report notes that 43% of infrastructure-focused partners want to deliver security solutions in the next two years. This trend is driven by increased threats and AI’s dual role in security: as a protection tool and as a potential target.
Ongoing technological developments have also highlighted a talent shortage, particularly in the areas of AI, security and data analytics. The report indicates an increase in demand for AI skills from 15% in 2023 to 27% in 2024, highlighting the need for strategic recruitment and skills development in these areas.
Despite the growing importance of AI, traditional core technologies such as networking, endpoints, security and servers remain crucial revenue streams. In 2024, terminals are poised to dominate technology sales in the APJ region, supported by innovations such as AI PCs.
Jaideep Malhotra, President of TD SYNNEX, Asia Pacific and Japan, commented on the findings: “For the third year in a row, the Direction of Technology report champions the voices of our APJ partners. One of the key takeaways is that while partners and industry are excited to explore the efficiencies and opportunities offered by GenAI, core technologies such as networking, security and endpoints remain key revenue drivers that continue to be our focus.
Malhotra further recognized Tech Data’s strategic positioning within the IT ecosystem, noting, “With our unique position at the center of the IT ecosystem, this report provides unique insight into the core and upcoming technology segments whose partners of today and tomorrow need to achieve their objectives. profitable growth in the IT channel.
The report reflects input from more than 1,000 technology resellers, system integrators, service providers and managed service providers, involving more than 287 respondents from the APJ region. This comprehensive survey contributes to understanding the evolution of demand and supply dynamics, as well as channeling activities within the technological sphere.
