Leach cautioned against relying on AI models such as ChatGPT for sensitive business operations, such as analyzing customer data, due to the potential risks of data exposure. SMEs, he said, should use multi-factor authentication and monitoring tools to oversee the results of the AI model, thereby ensuring compliance and security.
“Providers of large-scale language model technologies that need to be transparent are subject to much greater scrutiny,” Leach said. “On a larger scale, GRCs are likely receiving greater attention because they are more mature and subject to more frequent audits by regulators and third parties.”
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at Infosecurity Europe 2024Leach discussed:
- The risks of using public AI models for proprietary or sensitive data;
- The need for basic AI policies and awareness programs for staff;
- Why financial institutions need to prepare for incidents and comply with regulations.
Leach has spent more than 25 years educating and advocating for the advancement of responsible technology to improve quality of life and parity for all. He serves on several advisory boards as an expert in information security and financial payments. He is a member of CyberEdBoard.
