In Inside Cyber: How AI, 5G and quantum computing will transform privacy and our securityBrooks covers the rise of generative AI to enable sophisticated social engineering attacks.
“Hackers are now using generative AI to imitate voices and videos, creating deepfakes that can convincingly impersonate anyone,” he said. “The wicked exploit our nature and they will continue to do so.”
Brooks also warns of looming “Q Day,” when encryption systems could be rendered obsolete by quantum computers. “Quantum advances are accelerating. Within the decade, nations or adversarial actors could decrypt stolen data, putting critical systems and sensitive information at risk,” Brooks said, emphasizing the need for teams to security of moving to quantum-resistant cryptography.
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Brooks also discussed:
- The dual role of AI as a tool for defense and sophisticated attack;
- Risks posed by quantum computing to modern encryption;
- Ethical and privacy challenges arising from AI integration.
