Altair has acquired Cambridge Semantics, creator of analytical knowledge graphs, which can help power next-generation enterprise data structures and generative AI.
Altaïr claims that Cambridge Semantics’ graph-based data structure technology can accelerate the creation of comprehensive enterprise knowledge graphs, integrating the complex web of structured and unstructured enterprise data into a single, simplified view.
Manufacturers currently use Cambridge Semantics Anzo to integrate siled data into enterprise-wide knowledge graphs, enabling end-to-end connectivity and interoperability of R&D, manufacturing and product lifecycle, helping to power the digital twin, IoT, smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and associated digital transformation initiatives.
James R. Scapa, CEO of Altair, explained this further, explaining that knowledge graphs are key elements of data structures. “They put the right data in the right hands, at the right time,” he said, adding that knowledge graphs are critical to the success of generative AI applications because they provide the business context needed to anchor the generative AI models, eliminate “hallucinations” and, dramatically. improve the quality of responses.
By combining Cambridge Semantics’ knowledge graph technology with its analytics and data science tools, Altair hopes to provide organizations with a solid foundation for creating advanced analytics ecosystems that inject AI into everyday business operations.
Cambridge Semantics technologies will be integrated into the Altair RapidMiner platform, adding knowledge graph, data governance, data virtualization and data discovery technology to the platform’s existing data preparation tools.
Cambridge Semantics has a history of success with Fortune 500 organizations in government, defense, life sciences and manufacturing, having been founded in 2007 by an innovation and engineering team from the Advanced Technology Group of ‘IBM. Its technical team played a fundamental role in the development of the IBM Netezza and Amazon Redshift data warehouses and represents one of the largest collections of knowledge graph experts in the world.
“This acquisition adds deep data warehousing expertise to our already strong analytics and data science team, creating an enhanced core group of engineers who understand the entire data lifecycle – from from data creation to real impact,” said Srikanth Mahalingam, CTO of Altair. “We are all excited about where this combination of team and technology will take us. »
