New report reveals need for training on how to use AI responsibly
Stibo Systemsa global leader in master data management, has released its latest report: “AI: the high-stakes bet for businesses.” The report finds that while U.S. business leaders across industries increasingly rely on artificial intelligence (AI) to make critical decisions, gaps in literacy, ethical use and organizational readiness highlight notable concerns.
“AI is transforming business operations by automating processes, providing actionable insights, and driving stronger engagement with key stakeholders,” said Gustavo Amorim, Chief Marketing Officer at Stibo Systems. “However, if business leaders dive head-first into AI without establishing strong ethical and governance frameworks, they risk jeopardizing the future of their organization, rather than positioning it for long-term success. “
The report covers the results of a survey of 500 U.S. business leaders (director level and above) across multiple industries, including retail, consumer packaged goods (CPG), manufacturing, banking, insurance and life sciences.
The survey finds that 32% of business leaders admit to rushing AI adoption, while 58% acknowledge a lack of training in AI ethics. Additionally, 86% express a desire for more training on how to use AI responsibly.
Additional key findings from the investigation include:
- Preparation issues: 49% of business leaders admit they are not ready to use AI responsibly, highlighting the significant readiness gap.
- Bias mitigation: 79% of organizations do not have bias mitigation policies and practices in place, indicating that most business leaders are not responding to AI’s most critical ethical challenges.
- Security risks: 54% of organizations have not implemented new security measures to keep up with AI integration.
Amorim continued: “Establishing reliable data sources, enforcing robust security and ethics policies, and providing comprehensive training on AI knowledge and bias are essential steps to protect employees, customers and brand reputation. Without these measures, organizations are rolling the dice, risking harm to their financial standing and reputation instead of capitalizing on the innovation and synergies that AI can offer.
