Kuwait City, May 11: Zain announced the continuation of its strategic partnership with the Arab Media Forum, which took place this year during its 19th edition at the Four Seasons Hotel, titled Future Intelligence. The event was held under the patronage of HH Prime Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah and was attended by some of the highest-ranking personalities and media executives from the Arab world.
The opening ceremony was attended by the representative of the sponsor of the event, HE Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Al Mutairi, CEO of Zain Kuwait Nawaf Algharabally, Secretary General of the Media Forum Arab Madhi Al Khamees, as well as ministers, diplomats, media figures and business leaders. .
The forum included a special panel discussion titled Media and Technology, attended by Nawaf Algharabally, CEO of Zain Kuwait, Google Regional Managing Director Ghassan Kosta, and Hani Al Ghufaili, President of the Saudi Arabia Digital Economy Center. The session was moderated by Omani media personality Yousef Al Hoti.
During the panel, Algharabally spoke about innovations like 5G and artificial intelligence, and how they should spearhead the future of technology. He said future generations will look back on the times we live in today as one of great change, as the world has moved from a machine-driven world to a data-driven world.
The CEO highlighted how innovations such as 5G/5.5G, AI, machine learning, Big Data, FinTech, drones and more have reshaped the world around us. He highlighted that Zain has invested in building a robust infrastructure that harnesses the enormous potential of these innovations to lead Kuwait’s digital transformation journey.
Algharabally also said that in essence, AI combines automation with the ability to learn from data and experiences and then adapt its behavior accordingly. Ultimately, this will make the applications and machines we rely on today much smarter in the years to come, something many people fearfully anticipate. He also said that technology has played an important role in shaping today’s media ecosystem, where huge amounts of information flow more easily than ever and with unprecedented access within everyone’s reach. This has naturally required media organizations to implement radical changes in the forms and methods of publishing content.
